Licence Reinstatement
If you were disqualified from driving for a long period—or even for life—Queensland law allows you to apply to the Court to have that disqualification removed after a certain period of time.
The 2-Year Rule
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the removal of your disqualification, you must have served at least 2 years of your disqualification period.
How the Court Decides
Removing a disqualification is at the discretion of the Magistrate. It is not automatic. The Court will consider:
- Character & Conduct: Have you stayed out of trouble and avoided driving while disqualified?
- Safety of the Public: Does your history suggest you are now a responsible road user?
- The Offence: The nature of the original offence that led to the disqualification.
- Personal Circumstances: Why you need your licence now (work, family, health).
